it looks like a very old tree. perhaps it was diseased or dangerous

A very nice scene,the people add a lot,the first tree does appear dead,but I think the seats should stay,unless their knackered too.

Yes it is a shame when trees are chopped down. It looks to be a hundred years old so it would have been there when I was strolling those paths in the fifties and sixties. As has been said it must have succumbed to some disease or other. There's still plenty more though. Nature always replenishes what is destroyed.
