I like this picture very much -especially appropriate for the anniversary of the first day of the Somme tomorrow.

Visit my Somme Centenary display inside St Wilfrid's if you're passing.
There's also a Concert by the Lancashire Fusiliers Band on Saturday at 7.30 - and a Royal British Legion Commemoration Service at 2pm on Sunday.

Sorry, but I don't see the connection between Standish Cross and the battle of the Somme.

Good picture though/.

Should have moved the bike though. Its out of context.

The bike cant be left out, Lynne.
Its crossed the moors, pedalled over Formby sandhills and raced along the Golden Mile! But putting such a devoted servant in the stocks..tut,tut Mick! :O)

The connection is the Cross itself and the many who died fighting on the Somme battlefield.

For Lynne. Bike removed! (IP Plus) Not perfect, but it helped pass a bit of time this afternoon.

Thanks Bill, now can you dismantle the scaffolding on yesterdays photo.

I'll pass on that, Mick. A bit too time consuming! :-)
