Lovely view when you are driving over the Red Rock humped back bridge seeing all the boats and the canal, what spoils it is the half derelict half done up Crawford Arms
Went for a walk along the canal on Saturday. The pub is still closed, and looks exactly the same as on the photo, what an eyesore.
Does anybody remember the cafe on arley lane ? Think it closed in the late 50's.

Used to go fishing in the Wigan schools boy matches on this canal. The draw was always done near this pub and the prizes were given out in the pub yard.

This was the target for Sunday outings from Wigan Rowing Club. Far enough to work up a thirst, but not so far that girl friends could not be taken by dinghy. Off-limits for me, a cox, and crews on training....
