A nice clean looking Wallgate, those tubs look like cut off Granny Smiths apples.

Nice photo, good to see plants in the town centre. But who chose the colour of the containers.

Comment by: Dennis Miller on 1st September 2014 at 03:05

God awful ugly... the person responsible should be sacked!

Let us hope the vandals don't let us down.. and THEY do something about them.

The new road that passes Pottery rd, through to the saddle, is the best bit of road engineering since Wigan Council was formed. A quarter of a mile long.

Great shot Mick. I was intending taking the same photo this week. Who would have thought Wallgate could be like this.

Comment by: Pat on 1st September 2014 at 09:40

I love this photo, and the containers, which are colourful and cheerful, after years of drabness in this area, a positive change. Vandals keep away!!

It was only when I saw the patrol car changing the film in the red-light camera in the third tree along that I realised why they had been put there - crafty beggers!

Comment by: Cyril on 1st September 2014 at 14:36

Not crafty at all Wayne, they're doing a job in catching speeding drivers going through those lights on red and who, quite easily, could kill or seriously injure the driver and any passengers of another vehicle if they hit it side on.

They're quite eye catching, but isn't there an old naval saying that red and green should never be seen.

what a waste of money in my oppinion when the council says it has to save money and is cutting much needy services for the disabled elderly and vunerable then spend cash on pea green pots

Comment by: Garry on 1st September 2014 at 21:26

What a lovely good clear shot, well done, Mick.

Comment by: Jean F (Wales) on 1st September 2014 at 22:10

Nice picture ,nice planting but who on earth chose the colour of the planters!!

Comment by: Colin Harlow on 2nd September 2014 at 17:40

They look much better from the side of the road. Thumbs up for me.

Comment by: Jemmy on 2nd September 2014 at 21:30

What could be more natural than green?! Its natures colour. Grass, trees, etc. well done Wigan council!

Comment by: Mose on 5th September 2014 at 17:50

Yuk!!!

Comment by: Kenee on 6th September 2014 at 09:42

I think it brightens up the road nicely.

Comment by: Abbyb on 6th September 2014 at 20:38

Superficial or what... What a pile of junk

Comment by: Linda Shaw on 8th September 2014 at 08:29

Brilliant! Got to give Wigan council credit where its due. They've done a lot lately in order to make the town look brighter and modern. Its now time to do the same for the outskirts of Wigan.

Comment by: Garry on 8th September 2014 at 10:40

They do, all over Wigan. But some areas don't respect them, you know who I mean, drunken yobs.

Comment by: Linda Shaw on 8th September 2014 at 13:35

They've not done much for Hindley and Ince, Garry. However, I know what you mean re' the yobs.

Comment by: Torri on 15th September 2014 at 17:06

I feel ill... This is embarrassing .

Comment by: Jemmy on 19th September 2014 at 14:20

What's embarrising, Torri? Nothing there to make you feel ill. They're only plant-pots!

Comment by: Torri on 22nd September 2014 at 17:44
