Its always a very tranquil scene when you see all the narrow boats tied up alongside the canal bank.

But what people passing by dont see is all the human excrement that some of these illegally moored boats throw into the canal and bushes.

We had a part share of one of these boats. They are usually so well designed & despite the narrow space, they are not cramped. We saw some wonderful parts of this country - including most of the Leeds/Liverpool. Crossing the Pennines was great.

Mick. Is this an illegally moored boat?
Sounds like it.

Mick your comment, sort of takes the shine off this otherwise tranquil scene, The last thing that entered my mind were turds floating down the canal!

Maggie when did you use the Standedge Tunnel? Did you realise that until 1974 both ends of the tunnel were in Yorkshire?

Syd, i would rate your comment ten times more offensive than Mick's.

1. Our boat & the ones we had holidays on before we had shares, always had chemical toilets on which were emptied at the boat yard. As to the Sandedge tunnel,We probably did, we covered from the beginning in Leeds to Burscough at various times.
