Ivy Mount
Top of Ivy brow, does any one know the last time beer was served here?. It is now a private residence, about the seventies it was John Gaffneys builders office.

I used to drive passed there most days I lived in aspull from 1972 till 1997 cant remember it being a pub ,your pictures of stanmoor drive bring back memories

ivy mount drive up through scholes whelley on your way to aspull over the canal bridge ivy mount is on the right opposite a side road leading to haigh hall

There's a photograph of this building on Album page 3. Taken after a very heavy snowfall in 1940. Derek Ivy Brow is the part of Wigan Road New Srrings ,fron The Colliers Arms to this building.

Joe Graney. Not that I am aware of,but was in the same class at All Saints school with some one by that name ,I think he came out of Scot lane.

There were a number of pubs in New Springs, Starting from the Boundary Was the Free Trade on the right, then the Prince of Wales, Next was the Royal,Tetley house? corner of Chapel St, Hext on the left IS the Crown,Burtonwood house Then over the canal on the right was the Bridge Inn Could have been Almonds brewery house?, across the road is The Packet House, then the Colliers Arms,& finaly at the top of the hill is on the right The Ivy, It was turned into offices years ago for John Gaffney? builders, Not sure what it is now. Hope this helps

Yes Jimmy, it once was Allen Brothers. one of 'em from Shevvy lived across the road from me, now deceased. His son still lives there..

I was born in this house in October 1959. We lived in the flat next to Gaffney's Offices. I lived there till we moved out 5 days before my 5th birthday.
