Love this picture Dennis.
I was brought up very near the canal & spent many a happy hour there.
I was shown by an outsider years after I had left Ince that if you look at the bottom of the arches on the canal bridges you can see grooves in the stone made by the ropes of the horses that pulled the early barges.

In the 50s I lived in Ince My friend Kenny Lived in the house opposite in our street.His Dad took a canal boat from Wigan power station to top lock to load it with coal. In the summer holidays four of us young uns, used to open the Locks and ride on the boat,easily pleased
