Garden of choice
Garden of choice   by Ron Dawber  (Canon power shot G9)
Pigeon pit bridge, L&L Canal, New Springs.

Good photo Ron, we used to call this Bridge Pit. Just to the left of the photo was Bridge Pit, the upcast shaft for Dairy Pit. Walked over that many times to go down Bridge or Dairy pits.

that's great - an attempt to create some beauty among the dereliction.

Comment by Scholes Malc on 13th April 2013 at 07:24
always knew it as 'Bridge Pit Bridge'
the shaft for Bridge Pit was just on the left hand side of the photo
My dad worked there and at the nearby Dairy Pit (I posted a photo on the album section of Bridge Pit but I can't find it)

Comment by kath Pressey on 13th April 2013 at 15:25
but how did he get down there [links not working]

Comment by Harry C. on 13th April 2013 at 19:02
Nice one Ron, glad you got there at last. And thanks to the gentleman who moved all the cans and other rubbish to plant the flowers a big improvement to what it was like before.

Comment by Ellen on 13th April 2013 at 19:18
There's an attitude I like! Too bad that there's little of it left, these days. The gardener really does deserve a medal, I agree with you Dave! Would appreciate a later pic., when there are flowers.

Comment by Mick on 13th April 2013 at 22:23
kath Pressey he got down there by sliding down two joined together canvas straps.

You can see it on my video, in fact I moved the strap to a better place for him to come back up again when he had finished.
