A Wigan hidden gem.

Theres some videos here of Arley Hall with the only Wigan black swans swimming on the moat.

Nice one Edward......
Looks very Jane Eyreish...
Looks like a place Mr Rochester would frequent.....cheers, happy New Year!!!

Nicely framed, Edward. Those oak leaves will stay on for quite some time yet. Not sure what the green leaves are.
I`ve played there, year`s ago, in Walmsley`s annual comp. It was 9 holes then.

Mick, I enjoyed your video but would have liked to have seen some cygnets! Any chance there`ll be some this summer? but don`t try and pedal up Red Rock again!!

Comment by: Garry on 1st January 2013 at 14:45

How do you find Arley Hall folks. All the best for 2013.

Comment by: Alan H on 1st January 2013 at 15:28

Ernest, the green leaves are Ivy, an evergreen shrub.

Comment by: Roy on 1st January 2013 at 16:46

Good shot Edward if you,ll pardon the pun, the foliage adds a bit of substance to the photo. Can i be pedantic, Arley Hall has been discussed, argued about, call it what you may, on WW before and if you look on a map it is actually within the Bolton boundary. That said, as far as i,m concerned it is and always has been in Wigan. Please excuse my comments i was just making a point. A Happy New Year to everyone involved with P a D in whatever capacity.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 1st January 2013 at 18:13

Not my comment at 16:14.

Garry, my brother takes me,lol. No seriously it depends where you,re coming from, go to the top of Red Rock Brow whichever way you,re coming from, from Haigh direction go over the canal bridge and turn immediately right and follow the road, from Wigan or Standish direction go up to the canal and turn left immediately before the bridge and just follow the road.

If you had taken the pictuer from a diferent angle, the light refraction would be equal to the light reflection giving a cleerer shot. optimum distance should be 145 yards and not an inch further or the zoom begins tio throw off a diferencial of more thtn a fractal.

This photo is from the exact spot that the Google photo for Arley Hall is shot, was this intentional?
