A dull day but a really nice shot, clear and concise. Early morning perhaps.

A lot of drivers don`t know the Highway Code which states:-
"In stationary queues of traffic, drivers should apply the parking brake and, once the following traffic has stopped, take their foot off the footbrake to deactivate the vehicle brake lights. This will minimise glare to road users behind until the traffic moves again".

Is Hindley a part of Wigan?

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 21st July 2012 at 04:49

An extract from:-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Peter's_Church,_Hindley
"The church was built in 1863–66 and designed by the Lancaster architect E. G. Paley. It cost £9,507 (£650,000 as of 2012)and provided seating for 689 people".

It funny that pub usually full of unemployed smokers who is claiming benefits for being drunks an druggies. All stood outside with Cig in mouth an pint in hand.

This is a lovely shot of Market Street and St. Peter's. I am originally from Ince and now live in Abram, but I have always liked Hindley; it is homely. I went to the grammar school there and remember going to Hindley Market on lovely hot summer Fridays when it was a really thriving market, full of atmosphere. Sadly all gone now, but the memories linger.

Comment by: Mick on 21st July 2012 at 12:09

Your right about the glare Ernest and its even worse in the wet are when people have got those rear fog lights on when its not foggy.

Comment by: Garry on 21st July 2012 at 12:23

I can't see a pub, mick

Comment by: dirty harry on 21st July 2012 at 12:33

oh ere we go again lets have a lesson on the highway code from our friend mr pyke shall we. talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.the freaking cars are stopped at a red signal if the dont wish to use there hand brake so be it. who gives a hoot not me i would'nt even stop i would just go round the outside of them and cut them up i can do that cause im a stunt driver and i dont need to the highway code to do it

Comment by: Alan Hurst on 21st July 2012 at 13:46

Mick and Ernist are very sad people, apart from the time they clicked on photo-a-day, their on about brake lights. The four cars could all be slowing down to stop.
Both of you make boring comment all the time.

Comment by: john on 21st July 2012 at 17:22

Comment by: Mick on 21st July 2012 at 18:29

Comment by: Mick on 21st July 2012 at 19:26

Alan the four cars couldnt be all slowing down at the same time and being so close to one another.

Comment by: Janice on 21st July 2012 at 20:33

Good photo Tom - nice and clear. well focussed. Shame again about the dull bland skies we are getting. Not really good for photos. Ha! see Alan is back with his 'interesting' comments on the photo!!! If those cars were only just braking to slow down then I wouldn't want them behind me.

I love these photos of Hindley as my dad was born in Harrison St. in 1898

Comment by: Jean F (Wales) on 21st July 2012 at 21:48

There are a lot of scathing remarks here....at least dirty harry adds some humour to it.....where does he get his dialogue from??....lovely.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 21st July 2012 at 22:16

Allan Hurst, Mick impersonator and john: When are you going to make useful comments instead of making idiotic remarks about other peoples?
As for alan, you can answer your own daft questions by using the Internet.

Comment by: Ernest Pyke on 21st July 2012 at 22:21

My last comment applies to dirty harry also.

Comment by: Alan Hurst on 22nd July 2012 at 10:31

Janice in front of you would be more dangerous than behind you, I would have thought!

Comment by: Neil Cain on 23rd July 2012 at 09:58

What's a freaking car Dirty Harry? Where's the dealership and are spares readily available?

Comment by: Gary on 23rd July 2012 at 13:09

They could be automatics. Its not worth selecting neutral or park with an auto. I bet Dirty Harry can't drive! If he can...help!
