Plank Lane Marina by Gareth Roberts (Kodak C 713 zoom)
Former Bickershaw colliery site, with Plank Lane swing bridge on L/L canal to give a reference point.

I thought there were supposed to be boats in a marina.

They have done a great job in tidying up this mucky area of Wigan.
But they should get a posher name for the marina other than Plank Lane, but I suppose thats better than Slag Lane.

This is a welcome improvement. I was at the yacht club area a couple of weeks ago for the first time. It's a diabolical area. Everything is crowded in and there's an industrial site next to it.
It depends on the mooring costs that the council come up with, as to how often the marina is used.

PS. Can't see any mooring points?

Roy H, they might put in wooden walkways with mooring points on them.

Should be the Bridgewater Canal , off the L/L and the road has been moved to accommodate the marina.
