Is this a mature bird? It looks too dark to have all it's mature plumage.

Plus the beak doesn't look quite right for a mature swan. Good close up shot though. Another month or two should see it right.

Roy H. The mute swan in the photo did appear to be a mature bird. I think its colouring was affected by the strong light and shade you get in winter. It was paired with another swan and though its hard to tell swan gender, I think its a male as someone once told me that the lump at the top of its beak swells close to breeding season(hope he was'nt winding me up) it was certainly a lot larger than the other swans.
