Nice one Vic!I'm not so sure about the hungry bit Vic,it looks well fed to me!I see there's bread on the menu, apparently bread has no nutritonal value whatsoever for birds.

Lovely robin, lovely photo.. Don't birds fluff up their feathers for insulation to keep warm..?

Comment by Cyril on 17th January 2010 at 13:39
You are right Janet, they do fluff up their feathers to keep warm, there'll be more meat on a nasty fork than on that Robin. Great photo Vic.

Comment by Catherine on 17th January 2010 at 16:21
What a lovely photo. Well done Vic. The robins over here in the States are huge and are nowhere near as photogenic as British ones.

think hes had his fair share....

Comment by Frank Healy on 17th January 2010 at 20:51
What Janet & Cyril say, about fluffing up the feathers to keep warm, is exactly what they(Chris Packham/Kate Humble)said on the Snow Watch special last Friday night.

Comment by Vic Greenwood on 17th January 2010 at 22:41
Thank you everyone for your nice comments. It was really cold the morning I took the photo, I was putting food onto the feeding table when this puffed up robin flew down and took food from my hand, then it just posed for photos. Don't know if it's female of male as the sexes are identical.

Fantastic picture!

Comment by Del on 20th January 2010 at 09:03
Lovely pic Vic, I thought it was the males that had the red breast and the females are just all brown??
