I remember this pub when it was the White Horse - Edith and Bill were the landlords.

This was not the White Horse
The White Horse was on the other side of the road and is now known as CASA CARLOS

Are you sure? I used to go in there for my dinner with workmates when I worked at Debenhams, 1973-1976. I thought it was the White Horse, and the one across the road, Casa Carlos, was the Whitesmiths Arms. Could be mistaken...the memory plays tricks as you get older!

was the White Horse - used to go in before going to 'Tiffaneys' - remember Sam Holden being landlord there
Wigan Unionits rugby team used to have their christmas do there. Was there a small back room used as a function room or was that upstairs?

Sniltub - you are thinking of the Whitesmiths, which is now Casa Carlos.

It sure is the White Horse, as teenagers in the 50's we used to meet in "The Gate" snackbar across the road (run by the 'Green' sisters) then nip across there for a pint or three, before an evening at "The Emp"

The White Horse WAS this pub - it sold Almonds beer. The Whitesmiths was on the other side of the road a bit further up towards the Griffin - it sold Boddingtons bitter. Tom and Eve used to keep it.
