You can say what you want about Branson but hes got some nice trains.

It might have taken ages to get them and maybe any firm could have done it but a least we have them now.

This is a good photograph of a modern train in Wigan station, but very sterile and clinical looking as is the station now. I would much prefer to see a red Duchess (Coronation Class) steam locomotive with a train of maroon coaches waiting in the platform.
These engines were a real heavy duty machine and performed as good as they looked.I,m afraid that to me the modern trains of today look more like something that you would take out of a cardboard box to lay on the floor and play with. They remind me more of a super tram than a railway locomotive. Alas we all have our likes and dislikes and I suppose it would not do for everyone to like the same thing.
