Crime Awareness Is Top Of The Agenda In Orrell
Wednesday 15th June, 2005

Residents in Orrell are invited to a crime awareness day where they can meet their local community beat officer, get valuable property marked and purchase one of a limited number of vehicle steering locks at a reduced price.

The event is being held on Saturday 18 June 2005, 10am - 5pm at Orrell Water Park on Lodge Road. It will include pedal cycle marking, mobile phone marking, reduced price steering locks for local residents, giveaways such as UV marker pens and face-to-face crime prevention advice from local officers and the Homewatch association.

Sergeant Peter Clarke said: "The intention of the day is to raise awareness about how the public can implement their own security measures and to reduce the chance of them becoming a victim of crime."

"It is also an opportunity for local people to come and meet the officers who police their area. We have had a lot of recent success in reducing crime and by following a few simple crime prevention tips, residents can help to ensure this continues."
