Appeal for information after serious injury RTC-Wigan

Traffic officers in Wigan are appealing for witnesses after a serious injury road traffic collision yesterday, Sunday 5th June 2005.

A red Honda 750 motorcycle, driven by a 52 year old man from Platt Bridge was travelling along Wigan Road in Golborne towards Wigan in company with a Yamaha 125, driven by a 33 year old man from Platt Bridge.

The Honda motorcycle was in collision with a Fiat Punto, driven by a 37 year old man from Wigan.

The rider of the Honda suffered pelvic injuries and suspected fractured legs. He was taken to the Wigan Royal Albert Edward Infirmary where his condition is described as serious. No-one else was injured in the collision.

A 33 year old man was been arrested on suspicion of riding whilst under the influence of alcohol. Paul Whelley from Platt Bridge is due before magistrates in Wigan later.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or who was in the area at the time is asked to contact the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 7201.
