Radio Metro F.M.

HAVE YOU EVER wondered what it would be like to take to the airwaves and become a radio presenter? If the answer is yes then a new initiative with bright and prosperous future could be the answer. A New Leigh group are keen to set up a community radio station in the area, and they are looking for enthusiasts who are on the same waveband to show an interest in the project.

The whole idea is to offer a richly diverse range of programmes that will not only appeal to the wider audience but, through dedicated programme slots there will be information to the blind, disabled and house-bound who may not have access to the printed word can be kept up-to-date with local activities to become more involved with the community.

Ryan Devlin, A Partner with Metro Community Radio said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to get involved in such an exciting new project. I believe that the proposed radio station would offer new opportunities for people both young and old and increase the prosperity of the borough to help the community improve their way of life,”

“Not only would such a radio station provide everybody with the chance to present their own ideas and services on air, read their own poetry and express their views, it could also offer unique opportunities for students in the numerous media fields and valuable work experience. The remarkable difference between the radio station we would like for the borough and a commercial station is strikingly obvious.”

Because of community radio and the way is to be operated, it gives the radio station immense freedom to function in a fresh and unique way, without the constraints of bowing to advertisers demands or striving to snatch competitor’s listeners. If the proposal is accepted there will not be heavily-rotating hit songs, perfectly delivered traffic and travel bulletins, but great news from local people and organisations plus Drama, Music and full cover of “What’s On” in the borough plus all the local sport and much more together with your kind of music.
