|Arts For All Reaches Out
Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust's hugely successful summer arts event, Arts For All, is set to return to the grounds of Haigh Hall this summer and is seeking community groups, visual artists and performers to take part.
Last year's Arts For All event saw over 4,000 visitors experience a vibrant and diverse mix of arts activities on a sunny July day in the grounds of Haigh Hall and Country Park. This year organisers are anticipating an even higher attendance and are urging would-be participants to make contact early to express their interest.
Supported by Greater Manchester Local Strategic Arts Fund, this free family day is a celebration of interactive visual arts activities, exhibitions, craft demonstrations and live performances. There will be opportunities to celebrate what has been achieved in the community, and a chance to discuss and meet artists, partners and participants who have taken part in new and exciting arts based projects during the year.
Martin Green, the trust's Development Officer and co-ordinator of Arts For All says, "The programme for the day is not fully confirmed so there is still chance to get involved. The likes of Wigan Pier Theatre Company, Willpower Theatre Company, L & L Superstars, Dance Zone, Stage and Singing Express will all be performing. The programme will also include the work of local visual artists such as Karen Buckels, resident artist at Haigh Hall, and Elizabeth Smith whose successful textile project was on show last year".
The deadline for expressing interest is Wednesday 1st March. The programme will then be finalised and a publicity campaign to promote the borough's creative talents will begin.
Arts For All is scheduled to start at noon on Sunday 9th July. Those wishing to be involved, whether it be to showcase their work or to volunteer as a steward, please contact Martin Green on 01942 709305 or at email@example.com to request an application form.
