Assault - Wigan
Friday 13th January, 2006

Police in Wigan are appealing for information following an incident on Woodhouse Lane in Wigan.

At approximately 11pm on Sunday 8 January 2006, a 28 year-old man noticed three people acting suspiciously near to his neighbour's car. One of them was crouching over, looking through the car window.

He went out of his house and approached the offender.

The offender then turned around and swiped the victim with an unknown object, causing an 8" wound to his chest.

All three men then ran down Park Road in the direction of Mesnes Park.

The three offenders are all described as white men and approximately 16 years-old.

The main offender is described as approximately 5'10" tall and of skinny build. He is believed to have been wearing a dark hooded top, blue jeans and white trainers.

In self-defence the victim struck out and hit the offender so he may have a cut or bruising to his face.

The other men are described as being approximately 5'8" tall. One was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap with a dark addidas jacket, which had three white stripes down the side. The other was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap.

The victim did not require hospital treatment.

Anybody with any information on this incident is asked to contact Wigan police station on 0161 856 7147 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
