|Three arrested following robbery - Hindley
Three people have been arrested after a shop owner and a customer tried to detain a robber who had entered an off licence in Hindley last night, Tuesday 22 November 2005.
Officers were called to the off-licence on Atherton Road at around 8.50pm following reports that a masked man had entered the shop. The man was armed with a knife and demanded money from the till.
A 29-year-old man who was in the shop at the time and the shop owner managed to hold the man and forced him to the floor. The three men struggled with each other and the fight spilled out of the shop onto the pavement.
Two women then tried to pull the men off the offender, before a group of men got out off a car and tried to free the offender.
The men pulled him free and also assaulted the customer, kicking him and stamping on his head, before getting back in the car and driving off.
The 29-year-old man suffered a broken nose, bruising as well as a suspected broken cheek and skull. Paramedics attended but he refused hospital treatment.
A 20-year-old man and two women aged 20 and 18, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. The will be questioned during the day.
