|Gym’s In! Fit For The Future In Hindley
Hindley’s shaping up!
Thanks to a quarter of a million pound investment from Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust (WLCT) the town now has a state-of-the-art new fitness centre to call its own.
Based at Hindley Leisure Centre on Mornington Road, the fitness suite boasts all you need to work, rest and play with an impressive new gym.
The gym has been kitted-out by cutting-edge company Technogym, acknowledged as the world leader in fitness and rehabilitation equipment.
The entire facility has complete access for disabled users, this includes a new plunge pool which allows users to cool off.
The centre is being launched this week and forms part of WLCT’s wider Getting Wigan Active plan to improve and modernise its facilities across the borough and get more people to take part in sport and physical activity.
Other parts of the plan include the Leigh Sports Village development, proposals for two new swimming pools, free swimming for Under 16’s and more.
Hindley Sports Centre Manager Albino Ferro said the community had already shown great interest in the new facility. He said:
“Hindley has never had a gym before and we are hoping to make a big impact on health with a fitness centre people can be proud of.
“The benefits of taking regular exercise are now widely known. It really can improve your entire quality of life.
“The new gym is there for the entire community. Staff are always on hand to take people through their paces in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We can create personal fitness plans for people no matter what their current fitness level.
“Getting fit and staying healthy shouldn’t be dull or a chore, it should be exciting and enjoyable, which is what we are aiming for here!”
Welcoming the new centre, Wigan Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture Cllr Brian Baldwin said:
“When we launched Getting Wigan Active we knew it was going to be an exciting and ambitious project and with these new facilities in Hindley we can see it starting to take shape.
“The Trust is committed to improving the health of the borough. The only way we can do this is by making fitness an attractive and enjoyable way to spend your time.
“This is why we are determined to replace out-of-date and under-used facilities with new modern alternatives that will appeal to everyone.
“The new fitness centre at Hindley is a shining example of this and we would urge anyone who is interested to go along, find out more and get active!”
