|Ready For Work — Hayley’s Qualification Is Just The Job
Work Ready: Hayley Jones is up for the job after gaining the Preparation for Work qualification.
School-leaver Hayley Jones is all ready for the world of work.
And she's the first person in the borough with a qualification to prove it.
Former Cansfield High School pupil Hayley has become the first person in Wigan to gain a new Preparation for Employment qualification. The certificate is awarded by the Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examination Board and is designed to develop a person's awareness of the work environment and encourage the development of skills that would benefit the workplace.
Hayley gained the certificate while on work experience with Wigan Education Business Partnership (EBP). Hayley's work experience was an extended placement in the EBP offices for one day a week for two terms.
The partnership is now piloting the qualification with six secondary schools and more than 1000 pupils across the borough based on Hayley's success.
EBP Manager Pat Walters said: "We are delighted for Hayley and for her success in gaining this qualification. The qualification will provide prospective employers with evidence of Hayley's wider skills and capabilities. All the team wishes her well for the future."
Wigan EBP is constantly attempting to improve the learning experience for students who go out on work placement. Hayley was the first to try this new qualification for work experience, which will stand alongside her GCSE results.
