|Wigan's French Market - Encore Une Fois!
Market Day: Scenes from the last French Market
Get ready to go all continental as Wigan town centre prepares to welcome back a hugely popular market with a distinctly Gallic air.
Market Place on Standishgate will play host to a French Market from Wednesday November 9 until Saturday November 12.
There will be a host of vibrant stalls selling fresh bread, sausages and cooked meats, cheeses, olives, jams, perfumed soaps, cashmere jumpers, baskets and much more beside. In fact, everything that's sold on a typically French market will be in Wigan.
The market will be open from 9am until 5pm.
Wigan's Markets' Manager Philip Edge said: "The French Market will provide a real slice of France and offers visitors the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, aromas and tastes without having to cross the channel. I'm sure anyone who goes will find it a highly enjoyable way to spend the day."
The French Market was last in Wigan in March and traders reported it was one of the most successful events they have had in England so far.
"Additional dates to those advertised have been added to give people more of an opportunity to enjoy this event," said Mr Edge. "If you're feeling brave you can even practise your French with the traders."
