|Two youths arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 43yr old man
Officers were called to an address in Windermere Road in Hindley, Wigan at 8.30pm last night, Friday 16 September 2005, after receiving reports that a man was being attacked by a number of youths.
The 43-year-old had been in his house, with his family, when he heard a bang on his front door. He went to investigate and found that a wooden plank had been thrown at his house.
The man walked out into the street and saw a group of youths stood nearby. The man walked over to the youths to ask if they knew anything about the plank of wood.
One of the youths within the group confronted the man in what has been
described as a very aggressive manner. The rest of the youths then became very aggressive and shouted abuse at the 43-year-old.
The youths began hitting the man and he was knocked to the floor where he was kicked a number of times. The man's 43-year-old wife went to try and help her husband but she too was assaulted and had her top ripped. Eventually the man managed to get to his feet and the youths ran off.
Officers arrived at the scene and conducted an immediate search of the
area, which resulted in the arrest of two local boys, aged 15 and 16, on
suspicion of assault. A girl who was also suspected of being involved was
arrested by officers on Constantine Road but managed to run off before
being taken into custody.
The man and his wife received minor cuts and bruises during the incident.
The two boys are currently in custody and will be interviewed later on
today, Saturday 17 September 2005.
