|Ashton Festival - Are You In The Market For A Bit Of Fun?
Madcap Laughs: Some of the performers at last year's Ashton Market Fun Day.
A fortnight full of fun will kick off in fine style when Ashton Market launches the town's very own annual festival later this month.
There'll be fairground rides, face painting, freebies and much more at the market from 10.30am until 2.30pm on Saturday September 24. Town crier Mike Chapman will give an official oyez to start the proceedings.
Wigan & Leigh Crime Prevention Panel and Homewatch will be on hand to give out some great free advice on how to keep your home and belongings safe and secure.
There'll be also plenty for younger visitors with free children's entertainment and live music.
The fun day has been made possible through support from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and through the council's Community Festivals' scheme.
Ashton Town Centre Co-ordinator Emma Taylor, who has organised the event said: "The fun day is the first event of the two week-long Ashton Festival.
"The Festival Committee have done a fantastic job with this year's festivities and it really does promises something for everyone.
"Last year's fun day was a huge success and just like the entire festival we are hoping this year's will be even better."
