Appeal to trace witness to assault - Higher Ince
Friday 26th August, 2005

Detectives in Higher Ince are appealing to a man they believe witnessed a vicious assault on Seaman Way on Monday 22 August 2005 to come forward.

Officers were called to a business on Dobson Park Industrial Estate at around 3pm, after reports that a man had come onto the property with a wound to his neck.

Paramedics were called and the 22-year-old man taken to hospital to have a knife wound to his neck treated. He has since been released and is making a recovery at home.

Officers believe that the man had been involved in altercation with another man on Seaman Way, after which the 22-year-old was able to drive to the business to get help.

It is thought that as the incident was happening a man drove past it and continued on to one of the businesses situated off Seaman Way, which is a dead end. Officers are keen to trace this man or any one else who saw the incident or two vehicles, a maroon Renault and a red Fiat, which drove away from the scene shortly after.

Anyone with information is asked to call Leigh CID on 0161 856 5308 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
