Serious injury road traffic collision
Saturday 5th February, 2005

At approximately 10.40pm last night Friday 4 February 2005, police in Wigan attempted to stop a Honda motorbike in Hindley Green.

The motorbike failed to stop and continued onto Leigh Road. As the bike travelled around a left hand bend near to the junction with Pauline Street, it became involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction.

The 21-year-old rider from Leigh suffered a broken ankle and cuts and bruising. The 13-year-old pillion passenger, also from Leigh, suffered a suspected broken leg and cuts and bruising. They were both taken to the Wigan Royal Infirmary for treatment.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Area 1 Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 7201 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
