Monday 11th July, 2005

A 10-year-old boy from Prestwich suffered serious injuries after he was involved in a road traffic collision in Wigan on Saturday 9 July 2005.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision that occurred at approximately 2:50pm on Mesnes Street. A 21-year-old woman from Standish was driving her black Fiat Punto north along Mesnes Street when she was in collision with the boy, who was crossing the road, close to its junction with Northway.

As a result of the collision the boy sustained cuts, grazing and bruising to his head, face and body. He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries, which are believed to be mainly superficial at this stage.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information about it is asked to contact Road Policing Unit 1 on 0161 856 7273.
