I have recently given my daughter my old computer which has been Formatted I have the Microsoft registration code which was on originally but I don't have the disc. Can any XP disc be used and then put into the registration page my old number? She has tried this with the disc from my new computer but it doesn't work.

Can I ask... what brand of computer is it?

If it is a Dell or an Acer all you need is disc for either of the brands, the serial code is hard coded into the computer... my old laptop has a 'Designed for XP' sticker, and I don't need to enter a code as long as I put XP for Dell onto the computer.

Hi It hasn't a brand name. It was built for me by a computer guy a few years ago.

You should buy a proper version of the software see: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MS-Windows-XP-Home-incl-SP2-Win-Full-UK-Edition_W0QQitemZ260498235728QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Software_Software_SR?hash=item3ca6e7a150

Nah alot of folk use VUZE or Bitcomet. Wrong Wrong Wrong. I got my mates download speed from 10kbps to nearly a 1000kbs by a few tweaks in the advanced setting in the program Wink

I downloaded 'Lie to me Series one' in a couple of hours!!

Got it sorted.
I did have a genuine copy of Windows XP which I duly paid for. I had the code but had lost the disc. I didn't see why I should have to purchase another copy.
