I think I deserve a day off today because yesterday I spent digging out a vegetable plot in our back garden its only small as yet 6 X 12 but it still took some digging.

I bought some seed potatoes from Pimbo garden centre and Im now waiting for them to send out some shoots only thing I dont understand is it said on the bag stand the Rose Eye up and I dont know which end has the Rose Eye.

Oh and after that I emptied the fishpond and cleaned that out I also counted the fish 12 and the frogs 10 who are mating and funny thing is you can pick them up and they still keep on doing it if somebody picked me up that would be it I would have to stop.

I have been intending to make a vegetable plot and a couple of years ago cleared a plot like you have CK, but I never got round to planting anything and it is all overgrown again.
Didn't you take a picture of the frogs mating Captn?

We have a small veg plot in our garden...

The bast place for buying leeks/cauliflower/cabbage/celery etc is the nurseries on Bickershaw lane. You can get 20 leeks for a quid..!!

With your spuds captain... might I suggest potting them in a bucket.... place the potato seed at the bottom of the bucket and cover it with about 1 inch of soil/earth. When the plant beginds to grow start to fill the bucket.... continue this until you reach the top of the bucket... I tried
this last year and got 20 times more spuds than when I planted them in the ground the year before....

These are pretty good too.. my owd man uses them - http://www.thegardenersshop.co.uk/potato-patio-planter-3-pack-438-p.asp

Driving back from Blackburn this afternoon, I decided to take the scenic route through Belmont. Anyway, I was stuck for a while behind a tractor pulling a trailer-full of Parsnips. They were bouncing out all over the road.
It reminded me of coming back from Southport, via. Newburgh and collecting bags full of fresh carrots that had just fell off the farmers trailers.
