I think that could be an Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) - green form of caterpillar: www.wildlifeinsight.com

You're right Jo Anne, Oy put a photo of the Moth on Photo a Day 24th June 2017, I've only ever seen the black or darker form of the caterpillars, they were quite prolific in the 1960s feeding on the swathes of Willow herb that thrived growing amongst old mine workings, we as kids wrongly assumed that the point on the tail end was a sting, though it's just part of its disguise with it looking like a thorn on a plant stem.
