It's been reported that the council leader is crying into his coffee after having viewed these photos, he's just totted up all those many hundreds of pounds in fines he's missed out on for each discarded cig butt.

Wonder who sweeps them up - the pub employee or the council employee.

So the bar manageress says it isn't rubbish from her pub, so why would folks stand outside the pub drinking and smoking if they couldn't bring drinks from out of there, as they wouldn't walk to another bar to bring their drinks back to there, also there is enough empty cigarette packs to justify the amount of discarded butts, if there is a broken bottle or discarded cig packet or other litter on the pavement at the front of our house I'd clear them up, not say I pay exorbitant rates so the council can clean up.

It was a really good pub back in the day and served an excellent pint too, and at weekends the back rooms would be open, they were all little small snugs like how the Park Hotel was, sadly the heart was torn from it like so many pubs in the 1980s with the advent of the so called 'fun pubs'.

A lot more folks smoked back then too, but I cannot recall the pavements outside pubs being littered with discarded butts like they are on the photos.

Have those cig stumps been dumped there? Seems a bit too many close together if you ask me.

The bar manageress is blaming the homeless (it's always someone who doesn't have the means to answer back) and says they are emptying the cig stubbers that are on the pub wall, but if they did do that surely they would fall out directly beneath and not in the middle of the pavement, and why would homeless folks want to empty those cig stubbers when they could find better dog ends at the side of the road.

When I worked in the town centre in the 1960s and early '70s the fronts of the pubs in the early mornings would always be being swept and the steps mopped, mind they were proper landladies running the pubs then

I'm not sticking up for anyone but it does seem like theyve been dumped/emptied there.

The council should send their wardens out at night on weekends to issue fixed penalty notices, they would make a fortune.

it looks to me like someone has emptied the bin

you can see it better here

It looks like the most likely answer to me, Arrow. Most likely kids rather than patrons of the pub.
