I hope the theme helps to show that simple/ordinary/snap photos can have added interest by thinking of certain aspects of composition, and then have a go and post some results.

Nice bollard and rope.

An enhanced perspective effect due to the glass wall and pillar-frame being set at an angle, a nice architectural feature I think.

Beautiful, and multilayered, love the colours, makes me think of art-deco fabrics, paintings and pottery. (Everyone can be an "artist" with a camera.)

This is photo of a stationary train; but for me, the sweeping, receding and disappearing curves, give a feeling of speed.

Clouds can add a lot of interest by texture. Often you can see interesting things in clouds .................Can you see it?

On the presumption that this photo of a Winter Squash (Sweet Lightning I think) has some interest: is it due to surface appearance (texture) or strongly defined segmentation (pattern), or 50/50?

That's an odd looking one Neil. It's shape was the first thing that I noticed.

Pattern can be subject dominated as in the repetitive rectangular forms, i.e. windows, of Calke Abbey in Derbyshire.

Pattern can add supporting interest to the "subject" like the rectangles in the fences and those formed indirectly by intersecting columns and cross members in this shot of a tram.
