This is George a wooden canal barge parked up in Wigan today but on Saturday it will be towed by a tug down the canal to Appley bridge to be part of the Duck race festival
The crew will have to get off and pull it by ropes through the Wigan and Gathurst locks.

Yes you are right JoAnne the video is brilliant, and you have to remember it was all done with out any rehearsal or script, by one person and with one cameraman , who was on a bike.
I must say the bike did help me to get from shooting location to shooting location though.
I also managed to capture on video https://youtu.be/z1cHgpieFxA this crackpot in the canal near to seven starts bridge and got the lady from seven starts motors to call the emergency services

I would have followed George to Gathurst locks to get it going through, but it was dinner time.

Short boat George is now in Appley Bridge and will host the Mikron Theatre Company’s production of ‘Get Well Soon’ this Sat 2nd June: DETAILS Smile

Another historic short boat, Ribble, will also be in Wigan soon to host a free art exhibition. (Various canal locations from Leigh to Wigan, Fri 1st June - Thu 7th June, 10am-4pm) Leigh Journal
