Has the Red Pond that was there been filled in or is it now overgrown with reeds, though it will be fifty or so years since I was around there.

There was another Red Pond between Newtown and Poolstock don't know if that is still there, they were so called because the bed of red pit shale gave the water a red appearance, the gardens at Pemberton Senior school had paths laid with red shale from the Red Ash slag heaps that was close by to the school, they looked very attractive and did a wonderful job, pity there's none of it around now.

Even if I could get down there Mick I wouldn't, if there had been an access for bulldozers and trucks from Walthew Lane all that land would have been levelled and be full of warehouses or Barrett Homes by now.
