Its seems that redevelopment plans for Haigh Hall are moving apace and this view will not possible with a hotel car park in front of the hall.

A new driveway to the new car park in front of the hall will cross the miniature railway (in two places of course)

From the planning docs:
Prior to the commencement in construction of any part of the new driveway from Higher Lane hereby permitted, in accordance with the recommendations of the submitted document entitled "Proposals for the Safe Use of Open Crossings at Haigh Hall Country Park, Wigan", a risk assessment must be undertaken and a scheme of safety measures devised to mitigate the impact of vehicle movements
along the new driveway on the operation of the existing railway level crossings. The details should also include the arrangements to prevent unrestricted vehicular use of the drive, and shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority before use of the driveway commences. The duly approved measures shall be retained thereafter.
Info from elsewhere:
Councillors unanimously welcomed the plans, although Coun John Hilton said he was concerned about safety measures where the new driveway crosses the miniature railway.
The miniature railway track can be seen on this map (zoomed in):

Your right, but I'm sure there would be a public outcry. |

In my opinion Haigh Hall as always been overblown, because all it is, is a nice walk, with a nice looking biggish house, with nice views and some nicish gardens, but it's no Alton Towers or Blenheim Palace is it.
The miniature railway is bit crappy for me, it only goes through some trees and around a pond and I think it's the right idea to turn Haigh Hall into a hotel and functions venue. |

Another shot from Meadow pit lane from a few years ago. This shot came about because I was at friends house in Standish and spotted the low cloud around the mast, I had my camera gear in the car and this spot sprung to mind straight away. |

Some good shots there, really liking the light in the first shot. Spot on.
Shame about Haigh Hall, if it is going to be like the hotel on the Wirral they own, which is now a gated park with no access. |

I like the star-bursts, they create a nice mood.
