The rhododendrons in Haigh Hall plantations have got a disease so they are all being cut down.





I'll miss them this year. Here are some from previous years.

It will all look ten times better when its all done.

I remember all the doom and gloom going round when some people heard that they where cutting back and burning the rhododendrons in the Rivington Japanese gardens.

Even though the Japanese Gardens are nice.... they are not a patch on how they looked when I was in my 20's, and it is all down to neglect. Yes the trees had to come out, but they put nothing in their place, they just left bare ground. It was not a change for the better.

But having said all that, it is still a nice spot to have us butties when we are out there.
