Had a commercial traveler down from up north (Kendal) in our local over the weekend, told us all about the "clubs" in the north of England. Apparently they give short measures not only with the spirits but also with the change! He said you have to have eyes in the back of your head sometimes "steal the sugar out of your tea" was one of nicer comments he made. I rest my case!!
