Parking is becoming a problem. I appreciate that anyone can park anywhere on roads/streets that have no parking restrictions and I can appreciate that people on visits to friends, family, even shops, etc need to park.
But I do have a bit of a gripe. In Orrell at the top of East Mount and West Mount, during the week workers/contractors park their cars there and are picked up to work, later dropped off either on the adjacent motorways or other constuctions. This has happened for many years. Yes, it is legal for them to park here. However, the Mount estate is very clean and tidy... apart from the top of E and W Mount; where the pavements and gutters are littered with cans, bottles, fast food containers, fag ends, etc. Oh, I hear you say... can you prove these workers/contractors are littering? Well, apart from the great probability percentage, I have actually witnessed the littering. On one occassion I challenged the 'louts' in thier vehicle who responded with something to effect of "What the **** has it to do with you!" Not a nice response to a person of my age (70) who had been pleasant and informed them that there is a council bin within a few metres that is very convenient for for their litter. Obviously I wasn't going to get into a huge debate with such nasty and unthoughtful individuals, but I did give them a piece of my mind and actually (to show an example) picked up some litter and put it into the bin. Actually I frequently stop to put pick up the litter as it's a first impression that people get to a rather nice and tidy estate.
So, if you are one of the people who cares to park (legally accepted) please put your rubbish in the bin or take it home with you and respect not just the estate but the town too. There will be decent parkers too (appreciated) - so please tell your mates to be more considerate. Thanks
