Your welcome Julie,I think the reason he isn't known outside of Wigan is that he was friends with Sid Smith(of Smiths of Wigan)who liked some of his paintings and said he would try and sell some of them for him and it stayed as a local thing.I am sure that Mr Smith had a good collection of his original paintings at some stage,but i can't be definate about that.
