Places   (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)

Maureen..somebody must have the records from the period your brother was there. It may be worth writing to the Cumbrian County Council. I think in those days if you were in care then you terminated from the system when you reached 15...he must have gone somewhere and them detail should be in the school records or the council records.

Later in life he must have lived somewhere and the electoral records will tell you when and where. Someone also has his work records that you may be able to get hold of...it's worth a try. There is a lot to be found on the computer and maybe one of your grandkids can show you how to do it ..(just like mine)

As for being run by monks, I can't find anything about monks being there. Anyway lets hope he had a good time there, went on to become a decent member of society and lived a rich and happy life.

As for myself: Yes, me and my brother did meet in Billinge, eventually, and have been close ever since.
