Hi Brenda,
I was very sorry to hear about your loss in which it feels like my loss now as in one respect we were one big family.
I was baptised 11/1/1946 and my godmother was Mary Malloy. When I got all my documents from the catholic children's protection society I asked the priest, Fr. Donnelly, who was head of the catholic children's services, who is this person Mary Malloy, he told me that they would always pick one of the older girls from the home as it legalised the baptism certificate. I still have the document with her name on and the name of the priest on the certificate was a rev. H. Turner. Could this have been one of your sisters? I remember Maria and we all thought she was dead posh as she went to school with something like a brief case and she was allowed to walk anywhere without getting a pull. There was also a Mary Cunningham, no relation to me, and another girl called theresa broughton, i used to get lots of sweets from theresa.
Hope your move goes ok. p.s. welcome home.
P.p.s. I've just realised that we must have been in the nursery together as I was 2 yrs old when I arrived at greenfields in 1945 and sister lawrence looked after us.
Nicky Cunningham.
