Briansmith

Hi Brian yes, Maria Molloy with red curly hair is my sister, she was just a year older than me. There were five siblings all girls. Rather than leave Greenfield when I did in January '54 she stayed on to study for exams at Notre Dame Grammer school in Wigan until 1958.

I met Sister Isabelle some years ago. I went to the "Mother House" as we knew it as children. I had remembered it was in Selly Oak in Birmingham. If you ask for Sister Isabelle they will tell you that they are only known by their personal names, I believe that is to stem them tide of people who would like to contact the nuns now. Anyway I remembered she told a couple of us that her personal name was Catherine/Kathleen O'Brien. I left my phone number because they said she was out of the country and she phoned and we met up. It was a fruitful meeting because she confirmed much of what I had remembered. I am going to Birmingham later in the month if you like I can get the phone number for you, do let me know. I have to say that Sister Isabelle was one of better nuns in my time. There were far more vicious ones there during the 40s-early 50s.

I take it you were resident in Greenfield. what years were you there? What was your name there. Did you know Anthony Grogan? So many people seem to have just vanished into the ether. I would love to be in contact with some of them. It was Kathleen Donald, Mary sister that I was friends with. Do you know any of them now.?

Best wishes
Brenda
