Places (Help with places, streets and buildings in Wigan.)
You're right about Edwin being a gentleman Tony. I'd seen him a few times in concert but I met him once on a Mcdonald's car park in his home town Tamworth.
I used to publish a music paper in which I'd written an article about him and wanted to show him. We ended up having a lengthy chat about music and the Northern scene and he invited me as a guest to his next gig at the Gala Bingo hall in Wigan. I turned up and true to his word my name was on the door. He also introduced me to his personal assistant who passed on several personal taped interviews from other Motown artists.
It was because of Edwin we named our band the Ric-Tic soul band.
The man trully was a star!
Here's another cracking tune from the Ric-Tic label.
More laid back than his usual stuff but still very much played on the scene.
I have Faith In You
Plus another stomper from his Motown era.
Time
RE my Bowie phase: You couldn't really miss me Tony. Especially when I wore my full length fur jacket!
