It's the "I'm alright Jack syndrome - and bugger anybody else". It's a global thing I think especially in the 'developed western countries'. Where the almighty dollar/pound is the be all and all and commercialism, materialism rules. We don't have time for those less fortunate than ourselves and are too selfish to even think of what it might be like to be in their shoes?? Unfortunately it happens here in Australia, not as bad as the STates yet where oldies with dementia are wheeled to the door of hospitals and dumped there with no ID.
