debbie, had the same conversation with my paternal grandmother after the birth of my first daughter
on my first visit afet the birth she said to me
if you havent been churched you cant come in here,
wondered what the heck she meant, she explained
upshot was ,i said.. see you some other place then . she wasnt a religiuos person nor from a religious background so she must have been doing that to carry on a tradition
not with me she werent, wasnt religious then and aint now
although i did bow down to pressure and had my first christened. my 2nd and 3rd werent, by that time i had my own beliefs and stood by them rather than be brow beaten into summat i didnt want nor did my children need
