Farmers markets, Organic Boxes etc are becoming more popular, as are people choosing to grow their own stuff. This is a step in the right direction, and although expensive the food is often better/fresher. Supermarkets offering two for one on punnets of fruit is ridiculous as a lot gets wasted.

The problem is that the majority of folk are not aware of seasonal produce like they were years ago. People now expect raspberries, strawberries and all the exotic crap everyday of the week.

It is possible to grow your own fruit and veg to supply you and your family all the year round. Obviously not everyone has the space - but there are ways of overcoming this obstacle.

If everyone decided to grow a bit of something the supermarkets would soon sit up and notice.
