My mate wrestled a staffi last yr on Booths Brow road that was straying, it had been taken into someones garden waiting for dog warden, it jumped a wall to grab her 2 border terriers, that are tiny . She is small framed herself , and managed to get it in her arms in a head lock . Her dogs were on leads and wouldn't have stood a chance if it had grabbed one . How she didn't get bitten is nothing short of a miracle.
I don't mind staffies as long as they are on a lead and muzzled , any dog can bite, but for them the problem is letting go . Its lucky you managed to get it off or you'd have a dead pet on your hands . I have 2 dogs and no ones dog would get away with attacking mine , no matter what threats they make. Because there could be a 'next time' and next time might have a worse result. The owner is at fault for not training it, and whoever was walking it for not keeping it restrained. The dog is obviously untrained through no fault of its own. I'm with Jathbee it is a pity we can't muzzle and neuter the owner , they aren't fit to keep a hamster let alone a strong dog.
