Wiganyankeeron, you're wrong. I'm not wrong in what I say. If I was wrong in what I said, I wouldn't have said it!

What I do is point out that the local rumours are not correct.

ie: Trencherfield mill steam Engine is not the biggest steam engine in the World. I feel it's wrong to teach primary school children that it is.

ie: Marks and Spencer company was not founded in Wigan.

ie: Hulton Collieries Pretoria disaster did not happen in Wigan and it was not a part of Wigan life.

etc. (and there's many)

Indeed, the location of Wigan, in relation to the rest of the area, is where it always has been. The problem arises when people don't actually know where that location is.
Wigan, the town, has been there since the eleventh century. The Metropolitan Borough of Wigan has only been there since 1974, and people need to understand the difference!
